Enjoy a guided, 6 mile paddle on a mellow section of the Potomac River that has been described in National Park literature as, “one of the most beautiful stretches of navigable waterways in the mid-Atlantic.Visit sand and gravel beaches, wade or go for a swim, and explore the Catoctin Creek tributary as water levels permit.
Enjoy watching the eagles soar above and spotting the many other birds that call this area home.

Big Cork Vineyards

You’ll land your boats at the Brunswick Family Campground where you will have the opportunity to change before you caravan along with your guide and fellow paddlers to Big Cork Vineyards. Nestled on 100 rolling acres, surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains, you’ll feel like you’ve walked into Napa Valley when you visit their 10,000 square foot tasting room with cloud-like ceilings and sleek interior design.

Quench your thirst with a wine tasting featuring six of their delectable wines.  Enjoy a private wine tasting tour and satisfy your appetite with a cheese plate featuring three cheeses, baguette, dried fruits, and nuts.  Afterwards, soak in the peaceful scenery and live music, and put your feet up with a purchased bottle of wine.

Water to Wine: Kayak to Big Cork Itinerary

9:30   am Check in at the Brunswick Family Campground

10:00 am Depart from the campground kayaking on the Potomac River

12:00 pm Take out at Point of Rocks, Maryland and get shuttled back to the Brunswick Family Campground

12:30 pm  Arrive at the campground.  Dry off and change clothes

1:00   pm  Car caravan departs for Big Cork for tour and tasting

1:25  pm  Arrive at Big Cork

1:30-2:00pm Private tour, tasting, and cheese and baguette plate provided

*Trip departure, length, etc….  may vary according to current water levels, trains temporarily stopped en route to the campground, and group size. Please plan accordingly.

Big Cork offers a robust Grab-and-Go Food Market with all types of cheeses, fresh-baked bread, crackers, charcuterie and other goodies.  You may also bring your own picnic lunch & blanket and enjoy it anywhere on the property but the tasting room bar.

Big Cork CLOSES at 5pm on Sundays.

Enjoy another paddle on the Potomac River, on a 5.5 mile mellow section of described by National Park literature as, “one of the most beautiful stretches of navigable waterways in the mid-Atlantic.” After your trip, head to Creek's Edge Winery, a wilderness lodge style venue. Dates are limited so reserve as soon as possible!
